Setup and verification

Configuration: cline_mcp_settings.json / mcpServers / JSON

Documentation reviewed: 2026-11-02. This is not a runtime test or security audit.

  1. In the Cline IDE extension, open MCP Servers > Configure > Configure MCP Servers. Let the extension open its active settings file.
  2. Merge the generated mcpServers entries, save, then check the server connection in Cline.
  3. For Cline CLI, the default is ~/.cline/data/settings/cline_mcp_settings.json; CLINE_MCP_SETTINGS_PATH can override it.

IDE paths depend on the editor, profile and extension storage. Do not use a guessed VS Code path. Tool auto-approval is not enabled by the generated configuration.

Review every command and requested permission. Merge only the relevant server entries; do not overwrite unrelated settings. Keep credentials out of version control.
