Setup and verification

Configuration: settings.json / mcpServers / Guide only

Documentation reviewed: 2026-11-02. This is not a runtime test or security audit.

  1. Choose user ~/.gemini/settings.json or project .gemini/settings.json.
  2. Follow the official mcpServers schema for your transport. Preserve other settings in the file.
  3. Inspect connected servers and permissions in Gemini CLI.

This guide corrects the filename; there is no Gemini-specific generator here. Do not copy another client's remote configuration without checking the official schema.

Review every command and requested permission. Merge only the relevant server entries; do not overwrite unrelated settings. Keep credentials out of version control.
